Introducing the 2020 Honda Civic Type R

- The refreshed 2020 Honda Civic Type R was revealed last week at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Honda introduced a number of changes and improvements to the Type R’s already winning formula.
Driving Dynamics
The 2020 Type R introduces new two-piece brake rotors, and new brake pads to reduce fade and improve braking efficiency. The 2020 Type R also introduces suspension revisions for better ride comfort, better grip, less friction, and better steering feel.

- Front suspension improvements
Interior & Exterior
On the outside, drivers can see design improvements to the Type R including a larger front grille to improve cooling. Also a new color, Boost Blue, is exclusive to the Type R. Inside of the vehicle, drivers get a new wrapped steering wheel, and a redesigned shifter.
Honda Sensing® suite will also come standard in each Type R model. This is the first time Honda Sensing® will be available as standard equipment on all Civic models. Honda Sensing® driver-assist technologies include:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System
- Road Departure Mitigation System
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Traffic Sign Recognition
- Blind Spot Information System
Engine
The 2020 Type R is fueled by a 2-liter direct-injected and turbocharged 4-cylinder VTECâ„¢ engine to create a peak 306-horsepower. Other specs include:
- 6-Speed manual transmission
- Three driving modes
- Comfort, Sport, +R
- Active Sound Control
The 2020 Honda Civic Type R will be available for purchase later this year.
